Last minute reprieve. Tim and his oncologist agreed to give it one more shot and have his labs re-tested on Friday. His bilirubin level was getting closer for him to qualify, but still not close enough. Friday will be the last chance to see if he can qualify for the clinical trial. Tomorrow Tim goes in for another round of lab tests. It's the last chance to see if his bilirubin level has dropped enough to qualify for the clinical trial. Unfortunately, Tim’s lab results today weren’t as good as we'd hoped for. His bilirubin level is still too high for him to be eligible for the clinical trial at Kaiser. His level dropped a bit since last week, but not enough. We also checked with UCSF which is conducting a similar study using a different experimental drug for pancreatic . . .

Tomorrow is a big day for each of us as far as getting lab results. Paul went in for his labs on Thursday, and the preliminary results look ok. So far, he doesn't need to get chemo immediately, but there's one main result that we'll find out tomorrow. Tim goes in for his labs tomorrow. He's hoping for his levels to qualify him . . .

Sigh... Tim’s lab test results today showed that his bilirubin level is coming down steadily, but hasn’t yet returned to normal. They’ll keep re-testing him over the next week or two, hoping that it will drop enough for him to qualify for the clinical trial. A week full of doctor appointments, lab tests, prescriptions and consultations. Yuck! Every day this past week we were either at Kaiser Oakland or UCSF. We’re already tired of cancer being the center of our lives. We’re fighting back by trying to do just normal things. A few errands, short walks, working on our plant photos and database, junk . . .
